It feels almost sereal to think we are going to be celebrating the longest day of the year this weekend, when it feels like only a few short wheelsbarrows ago that we were packing up the tools and pushing the bikes home wet and muddy before the kids had even finished school. Cursing at the short winter evenings and daydreaming about the long warm summer evenings to come. Well here we are and it's somehow better than the descriptions we unfolded in endless discussions of just how madly marvellous the summer was going to be as we were slid and shivered on the daily. It all seems like a very distant memory at this point in time, surrounded by greenery, the ferns and forest at full bloom and the riders and other trail goers sweating in shorts and t-shirts. Have a great summer !Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7606265624297717219.post-60582739771007536932015-05-30T04:34:00.000-07:002015-05-30T04:34:32.499-07:00Random Snaps #1
Monday evening the trails were dusty and sun had just started breaking through the trees, the hype was up and the handycam was out. Shit got real fun, here is Josh's minute documentation of the rowd.

Late last winter, Josh told us of a spot he had seen and had been wanting to send for years, that just needed a little bit of man power to get it running full steam. After a few weeks of talking about it and wondering in my head what in the hell this spot was going to be like, as the description was very hard to imagine for some reason, me and Jud finally got our asses in gear and headed up to Josh's to check it out. WOW! Was my first thought the place looked like a little slice of freeride heaven, Josh showed us the particular line he had in mind and around 2 hours later she was looking ready to be ridden. Now all we had to do was wait a few months for things to dry up enough for the speed to be right. Spring rolled round with beautiful weather and soon enough we were talking about wether it may be getting dry enough to ride, another week or two of sunshine passed and no one could hold out any longer, we had to see if she was ready for a session. Me and Petty headed up on glorious evening, to see Josh already testing the water, letting us know it was definitely ready to rock and roll. A wonderful session ensued, but the video above will describe that far better than my words. Enjoy.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7606265624297717219.post-79071212506162824312015-03-24T15:37:00.000-07:002015-03-24T15:37:09.527-07:00Smelling That Summer
We managed to survive the winter with lots of laughter and lots of teas. The new additions and revamped sections on the trails are starting to become rideable for the first time this year. We can almost taste the summer. Here is a little glimpse of the first bit of dry trails, T-shirt weather and glorious sunshine at the trails.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7606265624297717219.post-46321283006097236012015-03-23T10:39:00.002-07:002015-03-23T16:04:08.397-07:00The Revolution Was Carnage.
The wrecklessness began when kurt thought he was already on the trails and hit a speed bumb too fast just as we entered the welsh hillsides, consequently snapping the bike rack and leaving them stranded on the side of the road about 20 miles from our destination. Our van looped back and the bikes were hastily chucked on the back then we watched them wibble and wobble all the way too our destination. Second run of the day and boom Steve goes down and sets the bar with a broken leg, taking him out for the rest of the day and probably not much longer, the man is an animal. People are crashing, people are high fiving, people are hyped, then boom robs down and before we know it layed out in the back of the van with a leg the size of a tree trunk. Another run. Boom, Pettys down, blood all down his face and chin, his tooth had managed to find its way through his lip and so soon enough he was joining rob on the injury bench. The rest of us were still hanging on for dear life, being bashed and bumped this way and that way with frequently infrequent spills and slams. Josh is one of those guys who gives you hope for the mountain bike community. He is all about the hype and all about the riding. He doesn't spend his time on the trails talking about how his wheels are now are an inch and half bigger than they used to be or that he has recently put 2 extra dials of low speed compression on his forks, he is just having fun, keeping everyone pumped and keeping things about the riding. Him and Caldwell Visuals have absolutely smashed it again on this edit, full throttle, no fucks given, just loose making his bike defy physics in as many ways possible and all with a huge grin on his face. We need more of this, get it watched and then turn your screens off and go ride your fucking bike!

Follow Josh's frequent madness at http://looseblog.stif.co.uk/ he is over in NZ at the minute and I am sure his ripping it harder than ever.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7606265624297717219.post-15152585149456787182015-02-12T23:17:00.002-08:002015-02-12T23:17:52.240-08:001 Minute of Lost Summer.
Massive shout out to Joe Bowman at steelcitymedia for showing me and rob some love with a very generous trail donation. Massively appreciated and we are just stoked people are so hyped on the trails and what we are doing. Props to everyone involved in this project, Craig and Sam for slaying it in the dirt of the forest and the snow of the open lakes and then Joe and Duncan for being the media heads behind the badmanship, awesome filming, awesome photos, give it a watch and let that northern frown turn upside down.
These boys have killed it all year round, pushing the progression of freeride and big rig riding constantly. You may have thought your jumps were big but I cam almost certainly guarantee these guy's are bigger. For most of us in the uk the winter is a time for frowns and complaints, and when the snow comes, we get excited for all of about 12 hours before it starts to turn into that all too familiar grey british sludge. Now for this guy the winter must be something he wishes will never end, multiple double backflips, ski lift gaps, basically anything you can imagine being cool to do on skis get done in a line and there is even a quick flash of an eagle getting a topside view of the action as one of the flips goes down (2:35).Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7606265624297717219.post-87376963199696219342015-01-17T02:15:00.003-08:002015-01-17T02:15:45.969-08:00Fresh Clay Makes The Day
Here is a little clip of Rob riding some freshly packed berms that got covered by beautiful, beautiful golden clay the other day, as the loam had already started to turn into a sludgy mess. I met Josh a few months ago in the woods after nearly colliding with him at high speeds on the trails. There isn't usually a better way to meet someone as a mountain biker, lots of laughing and shouting and fist bumps, Since then Josh has been 'taking it steady' in his eyes while we have been riding as he had a big knee op at the end of the summer. I can tell you now it very very rarely looks like Josh is taking it steady when he is near 2 wheels. I think he may have been born sideways as he never seems to want to keep his bike in a straight line. About a month ago I saw him fly into an extremely greasy step down landing into an even greasier corner at high speeds, as he pops out of the step down, a big one foot that no one was expecting came out of the bag which he landed more graceful than a swan. Turned out he wasn't expecting it either, but he adapted to the situation and rode it out like a boss.

Anyway turns out his writing is nearly as good as his riding, so go check out his blog and keep up with all the fun and madness that this boy always seems to find himself right in the middle of.
Hitting the streets, finding the spots, getting the clips. One of the best street edits I have watched in a while, so many fun looking querky spots. Everyone wishes they had a big bag of car park tricks for the downtime between trails or uplifts or the times you're actually stranded in a car park with your bike. Well these guys obviously spent so much time in the car park they now ride trail like they are still around the back of an asda.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
